All I want for Christmas is a photo managment program that is essentially digital shoeboxes.

I am old enough to have actually used shoeboxes for photos and smart enough to sort my own pix. All these "apps" i have tried (for Win10) create their own sorting by date, place left-handed people, etc. And its a pain to get pix where I want them. Is there a program for a little light editing, easy sorting, auto importing ?

Try the Windows Live Photo Gallery to see if you like it. Sorry I can't share a link yet being a newbie on here, but you should be able to easily Bing it. I used to use Picasa for many years, probably since inception, and it has served me well. I was sad when they retired it, but my wife if not happy about it at all. At least the desktop software still runs and mostly works. Hope you find what you like. I just did a search on Google Picasa alternatives and there are some relevant options out there.
