I understand, but we haven't heard anything from AMD. I know AMD seems to over promise and under deliver, but there is like NOTHING out there for windows 10 and there Zen APUs!!? Is it possible for there to be a hybrid x86 + ARM based mother board. Similar to PS4, where you have the AMD APU cores doing graphics and general processing while you have the ARM based CPU doing background downloads and other things.
In case you ask why I didn't address this part of your post, I don't feel I'm really qualified to say much more.
Basically a super efficient, budget friendly, tablets, laptops, all in one PC touch screen with stylus pen offering the best FULL HD 1080p graphics with direct x 12\mantle.
I remember being excited about Mantle when it was being developed. However, the whole thing was a push to get Microsoft to integrate better when DirectX 12 was released. DirectX12 gives the benefits of Mantle across all hardware, so it's really not necessary to rely on Mantle directly any longer.
I doubt you'll find budget friendly with FULL HD 1080p graphics AND a stylus pen AND touch screen, period. When you get to the level of tech to have both touch screen plus an active stylus, you've just made it non-budget friendly. Prices will come down eventually, but not within the next year or two at least. At that point, it makes no sense to throw in a budget CPU as it will just anger the people who paid for other premium features.
As for the DVD-RW/R drives, it still baffles me why OEMs still put it in desktops and laptops. Its archaic. The INTERNAL Blu-Ray R/RW makes sense because it gives:
50GB of extra storage where people can save music, photos, movies, etc.
Watch FULL HD Blu-Ray movies (in 3D if they want to)
Watch UPSCALED DVD movies
People who want a Blu-Ray writer, generally will also be wanting to do video editing as well. This requires higher-end hardware that you don't find at Best Buy, Walmart, etc. Brick and mortar stores that carry a selection of PCs for people to purchase generally target the mainstream, which will watch Blu-Ray on their HDTV but not their PC. DVD-RW and DVD-ROM prices are pretty much the same, so they provide DVD-RW for the sake of being able to install games and software that come on CD/DVD media. At this point in time, software is not generally bundled on Blu-Ray discs. Is it archaic? Perhaps. However, DVDs, while inferior in quality and storage, are still the mainstream for a large majority of the population. It is still what is in the Red Box movie rentals, and it is still the majority by over 90% when you look at movies being sold in most stores like Walmart. My local Walmart has a good 95% of the space dedicated to DVD, with the rest for Blu-Ray. For players, they have a couple of dozen different DVD players to choose from with only about 3 Blu-Ray players. Don't ask me why, but apparently sales have a lot to do with it. Blame the consumers. If they were buying the Blu-Ray, it would convert faster.
I currently have a laptop with a DVD-RW built-in. If I had to do it all over again, I'd get a smaller, lighter, thinner laptop and get an external USB 3.0 Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Burner(s). Unfortunately, I still have the need to burn an occasional CD due to requirements of a freelance job that my wife has. Yes, many are still left in the stone age of computers.
Okay, back on topic. I have done several searches thinking, "Hey, there must be something out there!" Alas, I can find AMD powered laptops at 15" or higher and I can find nothing from AMD for a 2-in-1, convertible, ultrabook, or tablet.
I take that back. I did find a tablet that runs AMD Quad-core processor, but it's an Android Kit-Kat tablet. An older one that was refurbished. Currently manufactured tablets are all Intel or Qualcomm. Seems the market has been well handled by the 2 juggernauts in this field, as AMD has been unable to deliver the processors that deliver the energy efficiency for the performance.
