AMD's next major CPU edges out Intel's high-end chip during press event

During a press event this week, AMD showed off its upcoming 8-core Summit Ridge processor, with its Zen-based CPU micro-architecture. In a benchmark test using Blender, the chip edged out Intel's own high-end 8-core 6900K Broadwell-E processor, with both running at 3 GHz.

Even if AMD only pulls even with Intel and their current high-end Sky Lake processors, it will be a huge win for AMD. They've been so far behind for so long that to make up so much ground in one generation is nothing short of a small miracle.
