Agree that it is a problem. But it is just one of the problems. The other major problem is, as I mentioned, their habits. Many people cannot afford the time on learning a new mobile platform. For technical people, it takes weeks. For ordinary users, it takes months....
My mother and grandparents are about as simple minded as they come and picked up windows phones. It really depends on the OS. Apple and windows phones are just fine and easy to adapt to.
How do I know? My friends brother is special needs and he managed to pick up my Lumia to which his brother replied "wow, I have to constantly do it for him on my galaxy."
Even I struggle sometimes trying to figure android out because the OS is not user friendly.
Like I said most complaints usually center around it lacking apps. And that's why most people don't choose windows phone. Considering these days where people leave apple for android and android for apple, people are open to change if the change is good.
