I know bb is one of the most secure platforms out there and now users are able to run android apps on bb10 devices...but I want to know if anyone has ever had their bb device compromised because of an android app.

My understanding is that its sandboxed with limited access to the core systems. My employer(bank) hasn't disabled the Android runtime on our devices, so I think they are okay with it. With that said, they don't allow Android devices on the BYOD or Corporate owned devices.

Yup, the android apps run in a sandboxed environment, for security. At the moment you can't really change the permissions (for an android app) but I'm assuming that will be coming with bb10.3 and the 4.3 android runtime.
