I can understand the way you feel but don't be any of us so enthusiastic yet! The new os from ms is a baby yet and you don't know what problem will have. If someone is very satisfy with ios is a big risk to jumb to the unknown!

Exactly why Im making the switch, for all its openness, Android just isn't as integrated as Microsoft and I like the approach they are taking, so Im willing to stump up my cash, strap myself in and enjoy the ride

It is going to be a long long 6 week wait though

I'm sure you could have come up with a better first post Good effort nonetheless.

I'll leave you to browse around the Forum and get a feel of what "a baby" has grown up into

Call this baby a 2 year old football pro and it might be an under statement.

If someone is very satisfied with iOS, of course they don't have to jump anywhere. You only look around when home doesn't satisfy you Trust me, for those lurking around and looking around, nothing beats the freshness of WP!

Haters gonna hate dude...I loved the article and I am that person he is talking to. In countless posts of mine, I have mentioned how finding or rather hunting for that ONE app in the god forsaken heap of apps is not only tiring but frustrating.

I also have countles instances where I have happily installed an app and then...forgot all about it. In a matter of minutes that is.


Sick and tired of Android stuttering on dual core, 1.2 GHz system. Tired of looking for the proverbial needle in a haystack.

And worried about the my secruity more than anything else (app permissions anyone?).


Now just waiting for my next WP8 device to rid me off this horror of an OS..

[PS: And this is my copywriter instinct kicking in...but in the first line, it should have been, "When my kids were young" and not "When my kids were small" :straight: ) ]

Those of us that have been preaching the ecosystem understand this point. Why are so many people on iOS? They are invested. iTunes, apps, the ecosystem keeps them. That is what Microsoft is building. Yes, it is a vast undertaking, but the rewards are customer loyalty like what they have on PC's and with Office. It should bring people to WP. Given time.

The challenge faced by MS is selling this tight integration as a differentiating characteristic of WP BEFORE all of the other OSes copy it. Already, when I pull up a contact in my old school BlackBerry, it shows the most recent texts, emails, Facebook posts, etc., of that contact.

I still MUCH prefer WP but unless people use a WP device and see how it does that differently and better, the tougher the sales job becomes. While the general public hasn't caught on to what makes the WP OS different and better, the other OSes have and are working on catching up.

Not quite in the same way, but it does have a cloud infrastructure, there is Gdrive, Google docs, MAps, AR - the issue is that it just isn't integrated between the apps, though I do understand that google are starting to integrate things with the latest update to Gdrive, but they have a long way to go.

Google's main presence is in the cloud, unless you count Chrome OS

But to access THAT cloud you need a hardware, to work on.

I have never used Android tablets and don't plan to but don't know how good they serve that purpose.

If all your cloud services can be there right in front of you tightly integrated without you having to do anything, isn't that ecosystem better? Like my emails that will hit me on my laptop or my phone or my tablet or work PC - wherever I am, I don't miss it.

But unless you are online on cloud or have your phone with your, you will miss out on a Gmail unless it enters another ecosystem right?

I really hope if they ever finish with Chrome OS, they do a little tidier and challenging work to make MSFT and Apple re-think how they work. For now, going my the hardware partners and install base MSFT can pull off the ecosystem idea much quickly than Apple did or one of MSFT's single product alone can.
