Anti virus?

I am using norton 360 premier at home on my surface peo. Not that I distrust windows tools , it's just that on my work PC admittedly it runs windows 7 it never picks up any tracking cookies etc that Symantec and malwarebytes get rid of. I know those don't necessarily constitute a big threat but I prefer to have my privacy slightly protected. Whether or not I get any benefit from these types of software I can't say for certain but every now and again a backdoor trojan or other malicious threat gets detected including recently a steam (gaming ) exe file.

Nobody Understands Windows as much as Microsoft Does ! Why Worry When You have Windows Defender ? :winktongue:

lolol. oooooooook. if you believe that, i have some magic dirt i want to sell you, but don't tell anyone... seriously? ms is the last company i trust to do anything right. they have tons, and tons of spyware built right into win 10, and on by default. defender in win 10 is NOT enough. it only catches like 70%. it's much better to turn off all of the windows spying software, defender and the screen protection software, and put a combination of bitdefender total security, mamb and mamb anti exploit. that's a great defense for most anything. i also run spybot once in a while just to make sure. people need to remember that tablets are less secure than most home computers bc you take them to many different places. hope this helps.

one other note, norton is horrible on your sys. it uses way tooooooo many resources, and slows your entire sys, which is partly what you are trying to avoid with spyware and viruses.

Really and what spyware have you found baked into Windows 10? I'm willing to bet our definitions of "spyware" are different.

Moreover companies that sell you anti-virus on a yearly subscription basis are more likely to either:
  1. Tell you more is wrong that other anti-virus programs in order to keep you buying their product
  2. Provide a "free" version of the program that doesn't catch everything, pushing you toward buying the full product

Microsoft has no reason to push sales since their product is already free and built in with the OS, so I generally trust their product more than 3rd party anti-virus.

If you want a strong security solution that is free, try 360 security. It's light weight, fast, and has 4 different engines enabled by default, with 2 additional ones you can enable. Since antivirus solutions depend on how well the engine can detect irregularities in files, one might find one virus and the other may not. Personally, I block ads, don't visit off the wall websites, and don't click on anything I'm not comfortable with. I just use Windows Defender on mine, but for anyone who is susceptible, I put on 360 security.
