Any way to unlock 1520 Locked to O2 UK

Hi, is there any way to unlock my UK 1520 locked to O2?? Searched everywhere buy cant find anywhere and been told that O2 don't unlock for 12 months?

Weird, before I bought mine (ended up buying one from amazon as O2 only had red) I asked O2 and they said that they would unlock it the day I bought it if I wanted. As azibs said, if O2 have said no then you should be able to get it done through a 3rd party.

I got the code for my 925 from o2.
I search o2 forum and someone had kindly put a link to the correct page on o2 website, as well as explaining what to do.
I expected to wait a while but received email within two days.
There is an online form to fill in.

I have still got 18months left on a two year contract.

I'm using giffgaff though which uses the o2 network but is neither o2 payg or contract. They want me to get a payg sim and use it for 12 months and then request the unlock. YEAH RIGHT!

The unlocking on day 1 only applies to pay monthly customers, pay as you go customers have to wait 12months as per the t&c's however you shouldn't have to unlock it to use giffgaff unless things have changed in the last 6mths

O2 didn't budge. Had a manager put the phone down on me when the going got tough. Ive cancelled my o2 broadband with them, my parents have cancelled their o2 contracts with them too. Vile, arrogant company. For the sake of holding me to ransom for 12 months on a phone they have lost out on approx ?2000 over the next 2yrs. Silly

So because you bought a subsidised handset, its now o2's fault that you didnt read the terms and conditions.. (p.s o2 dont have any broadband customers anymore its now part of sky).

Im sorry to say that o2 are correct in their actions, and to o2 your not a big spender (?27 pm per user is nothing for 24mths)

p.s i dont work for o2... and only buy sim free handsets, as then no hassle.

You sure they lost out? If you stop paying you can bet they will come after you and you will not win here. It seems you went in and entered a legally binding contract with them without reading your contract with the intention of getting a phone for cheap and move to a cheaper provider. It don't work that way. It also seems you read here people got their phones unlocked and tried calling them but let slip or was obvious in that you had no intention to keep paying your contractual fees but jump and use the phone with another carrier. So they rightly keep your phone locked in to their network.

Firstly i didn't buy this on o2 contract. I bought it off eBay. Secondly my parents both took an o2 contract last week so took them both back under the 14 days return and got the same deal with Vodafone. Thirdly when i took out my broadband it was with o2. IM out of contract with them too. O2 are at fault here. Its a non contract handset. Why cant i have it unlocked????? It makes no financial difference to them as the original purchaser paid top price for it.

o2 are not a fault, you bought a handset off ebay which is locked to o2, for which you are not the person they sold the handset too originally, with no proof of purchase (apart from ebay, which isnt the most trustworthy of market places).
How do they know you havent just nicked the phone, found it in the street, etc.. As i say o2 have done nothing wrong, they are just being risk averse, your not even an o2 customer..
Have you spoken to the seller, can he get it unlocked?

Just to point out o2 sold the broadband to sky 1year ago... and make sure you get a mac code otherwise you'll be ceased and a reprovide of adsl might cost you upto ?100...

If it was stolen it would have been reported and h barred. O2 have bo reason to not unlock. What do they hope to gain?? I emailed the VP of Nokia UK who agreed with me that O2 were being bloody minded but his hands were tied. No worries anyway as ive sold it now and will be buying a simfree one. Their silly rules will cost them more in the long run than it will have cost me to put the difference to this one to buy a simfree one.
