Anyone got a Universal app?

Well.. I just released a Windows app for one of my Windows Phone apps and made it Universal. Judging by the preliminary numbers, Windows Phone app's downloads are high. Maybe because it's the nature of the app (news reader) or just I haven't done enough advertising.

We are seeing that our Windows Phone games have more than twice the downloads of their Windows 8 counterparts.

My guess is that more people like Windows Phone games to pass the time while on a bus/train/plane/etc., but Windows 8 gamers tend to be PC gamers, so they don't download games from the Store.

That pretty much describes me. My gaming on PC is Steam games, not anything from the Store. I do play games on my phone occasionally, as a time-killer.

What's your app? Could you please share links? News Reader apps are the sort I'd consider for both desktop Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone.

I made an app called #UniversalApps that catalogs Universal Apps so that it will be easier for users to look for links for both Windows and Windows Phone versions. If you are a developer, please send me info so I can include your app in the database by filling up this Excel survey.

Well, depends on what your app does. One of my apps have a lot more downloads on phone, but the other has a slightly more downloads on windows.

My app, a very general weather app, flopped on Win8 and succeeded on WP8 with over 20,000 downloads. I have a tenth of that number on Win8...

Essentially, developing for Win8 is more of an investment then anything at this point - threshold could triple those numbers.

I have an app for local transportation. Windows 8 version has a higher download number than the phone version. I think this is because it's an essential app but it doesn't have a lot of competition on Windows 8 compared to on the phone. Or because the phone version is app supported but the RT version isn't even though I haven't updated the RT version for quite a long time. So from what I can see for a non-game app is, it depends on the value of the app that you're making on a desktop or mobile environment and the number of competition in each store.

I'm now working on making Goal Centre a universal app. Currently it's still a WP7 app, so I'm making the jump to port it all over to WP8.1/W8.1 and see how it goes. I've had 102,000 downloads for WP so hopefully it's as popular on Windows as well. I'd love it if we were able to run these on Xbox One as well, would be great to be able to play FIFA and have Goal Centre snapped to the screen for live real-life scores too.

I have seen that my app downloads have been mostly Windows Store downloads. But there may be a problem with my statistics for Windows Phone, it says that there was only 1 download, but I am certain a lot more people have downloaded the game. Has anyone else found this to be an issue? Or am I missing something?

I guess I have something similar, i had a WP8 app, and since I updated it to universal. Downloads went down to 0/1 each day. The Windows version isn't even listed in the store, guess I'll contact support one day.
