Is there anyway to update all apps for Xbox one, without going into the individual app?

If your Xbox is set to update apps when they come available (automatically) they'll just update (they'll have a little asterisk in the top right corner). Otherwise, they'll update when you launch them.
The only apps/games that I have that don't update automatically are my games that require a disc. For whatever reason those will start updating once you insert the disc only.

How do I set apps to update automatically?

it's in the settings menu of the xbox one. The XBOX One has to always go into standby mode too - not power saving mode (which turns the console off completely)
