Bottom right corner of the site, an ad keeps popping up. Just wondering if this part of the site or I have adware on my PC that I can't seem to remove? I ask, because I've seen the same ads on the ATT website and I've been having trouble with re-direct ads as well.

Thanks for replying. Yeah, I figure its some type of adware, since the same ads appear in different websites for me. GAH! I want to do a full wipe, but I don't have a Windows disc... Maybe I'll just wait for W8 to be released.

I don't get those either. Have you tried downloaded Microsoft Essentials? They seem to work well in removing every thing!

Yeah, I have MSE my laptop and doesn't detect it. I also tried Malwarebytes and Spybot, they did find some malware and adware, but I still have at least one that it can't find.

Dang... tried different browsers?

It looks like your ISP might be injecting ads into your pages. In that case, there's nothing you can do about it, except switch ISPs.

Either that or it's adware on your pc.

I don't think it's my ISP, I've had them for over a year and I've only experienced this the last month or so. Plus my other laptop doesn't have this problem. I'm pretty sure it's because I've been streaming videos (not porn, just foreign movies) from questionable sites... Hehe

ROFL @ the disclaimer of what isn't the cause. :P

If you have genuine copy of Windows, you can download the disc from anywhere on the web, burn it, install it and enter the key on the bottom of your PC and youve got yourself a fresh OS!

Oh really? I did not know that. Now I just gotta search where to dl a copy of windows. I've never had to before.

If you have a restore point from before the problem showed up you could just try rolling back to that point.

I checked that, but the oldest restore point that is saved is from a few weeks ago. This has been happening for over a month. I wish I thought of that sooner.

I've switched to Chrome and so far so good. It's only been 2 days, but no annoying ads yet. *crossing fingers*

Bad news: adware and redirects still happening in Chrome

Good news: I just found a system restore (hard reset) from within the VAIO Care program. No need for a recovery discs, because it's preinstalled in a partition of the hard drive! Score!

Sony VAIO rules!!! :D

Glad you found a solution! I was going to suggest that if the adware has infected your PC, that changing browsers may not work - wouldn't the adware just travel to the new browser eventually? I'd think you'd have to innoculate or exterminate the adware somehow before anew browser would be clean.

I've been fairly happy with FireFox, until I have to go to an official MS site for some reason - then I am forced to use IE. Am not a google fan so am not even interested in Chrome.

Cheers,
Kim

IE is my favorite, for the very reason you stated, that I am forced to go back to IE with certain sites. I mean it's not as pretty as FF or Chrome, but it works just as well and just as fast (I feel IE is actually faster if you have Accelerated Graphics turned on). But since I started Chrome a few days ago, I think I'm sticking with it because of the multi-user profile feature. I think I read FF has the same feature.
