Since moving to a Lumia 830 with 8.10.14157.200 from an Ativ S with 8.0.10517.150 I find quite a few (but not all) emails with attachments I receive are coming with winmail.dats. When the same emails are received on my laptop (in Outlook 2010) the correct attachments are always present, no problem.
It's a long time since I had problems with winmail.dats ... I recall the solution (in the old days) was to ask the sender where possible to send the attachment under cover of an email in plain text (rather than rtf) but that was a real bore which I really don't want to have to repeat. Also I think I am right in saying that up to a week and a half ago I did not receive one single winmail.dat on my Ativ ... so that leaves one suspecting the one thing that has changed ... namely Outlook in Windows 8.1 Update.
Anyone else suffering the same ... any wise suggestions?
