Arrive EOL'ed by Sprint

Just recieved a heads up that as of Q4 2012, the old WM6 HTC Touch Pro2 is finally being put out to pasture. This move leaves the (expensive!) Motorola ES400S (WM 6.5.3) as the sole non-EOL'ed Windows device in the Sprint lineup.

It's being recommended that all enterprise consumers with Touch Pro2's move to Android-based devices such as the Galaxy S2 (Epic Touch) or the LG Optimus S, as they are listed as possible replacement handsets.

!
Here is a recommendation for enterprise consumers. Find a carrier that does not still offer rotary phones.

I heard a rumor that since the Arrive is EOL, and was categorized as such before the two-year contract window was up, that Arrive owners can break their Sprint contract without an early termination fee. Is that true or BS?

Someone mentioned on another thread that they were able to cancel without an ETF because of this. I had planned to make that argument anyway, but I'm glad to hear it worked. If the first person tells you no, ask for a supervisor. Sprint hasn't even sent updates in the past, I'm not paying for an ETF for a phone and OS they no longer support!

The updates for the Arrive were sent through Zune because they were big, especially Mango. I am not sure what was the holdup on Tango since that device was also considered EOL by Microsoft, which is in the same category as every WP7 device after 7.8 is offered
