Backing Up Contacts

I have a replacement phone coming tomorrow. Can I back up my contacts to my sim or does the phone back them up to the cloud auto?

Yep, as DBDev said, they are backed up to the cloud. If you have bought another Windows Phone, when you run through the setup on your new phone and sign in, it will import all of those contacts for you automatically.

If you have purchased a new phone running a different OS, then you may need to export your contacts, then import them into your new phone.The best way that I know of backing them up, is to go to www.outlook.com and sign in with your Microsoft Account details. Then, click the little arrow in the top left next to 'Outlook'. Then click 'People'. This will show you all of your contacts that are saved to the cloud (your Microsoft Account). Click 'Manage' at the top, then click 'Export'. This will allow you to save all of your contacts to a CSV file, so you can then import them into your new phone.
