Backing up phone

Does this have to be to a hard drive or can it be done to a USB drive?

Zune backs it up to a specific folder on your hard drive baseballbert. The default backup folder can't be changed in Zune.

It is of course hidden but it's location is here....

c:\users\{user}\appdata\local\microsoft\windows phone update\
