Bacup in ondrive

Hello
My 625 phone unforunately died.I did everything I could to recover it but is not turned on at all.so I bought anohter one
a 950 (the new one with win10) .I have my stuff all at onedrive .The question is : Is the backup I had there compatible with my new phone or I have to start from the beggining?

I would suggest you set up the new phone without restoring from backup - just start afresh and then later on you can add things back

For texts and contacts, those can safely be synced back once you've signed in and text backup is on with syncing set to any time
For data such as photos, you can download them from onedrive

Others like start layout - you'll want to do this manually
Same with the apps, - you can go to store > under downloads you can select the apps for downloading
