Band 2.0?

The Surge does not have notifications on WP, they have not resolved that and still have no timeframe (if it ever even comes).

DANG IT! I read on the Garmin User Community boards that a user was able to get the notifications working from his WP to his Surge. Looks like I read his reply incorrectly. Dang it!

So you weren't shopping for a fitness band, and still managed to buy one... Don't you read what you are buying?
I didn't buy one. Wife did. She was going to buy me one more for me figuring out how it works etc and then set hers up so all she needed to do is wear it. Hers won't fit me so it's been a little tougher but she's happy, so I'm happy. One other thing is the band doesn't work as well with iPhone always disconnecting where I have only read one person complaining his AW disconnecting. Most brag that it never disconnects like their other smart watches do as in Band and Pebbles.

Band 2.0 is already out. Released on April 24th. It's called the APPLE WATCH. Am I ever glad micro mind wouldn't let us pre order them and made it first come lucky you. Now I have the REAL smart watch coming in a few days. I just wish my wife waited.

I don't know why people like you bother browsing through this forum. The Band is a great fitness tracker and can function similar like a smart watch. The Apple Watch (which, I ordered anyways) is a different animal, which is going to be great in its own way only if you're using an iPhone. MS honey Band don't care what kind of phone you're using and will run all day long until the following day without needing to charge.

Have fun constantly tethering your "REAL smart watch" to a USB port/charger halfway through your day, just like every version of iPhones that have **** battery. Except for the 6+, which is really just a huge battery pack.

Before pulling the trigger on the Surge, I'd suggest that you have a good look at the FitBit forums. Lots of issues with inaccurate HR, which I can confirm from personal experience. IMO, it's a lot of sizzle and very little steak. Looks nice, but they market it as a premium device for serious fitness, and it just doesn't live up to that.

Indeed.

I think FitBit's software portal is way beyond MS Health, plus it has food logging. They;ve got good stuff going for them.

But the Windows Phone integration stuff is rickety and barely functional where it works at all. I appreciate that FitBit is supporting WP in theory, but at the glacial pace they are moving I think they have a single part time intern working on the code, and whenever anything goes wrong they insist it's Microsoft's fault or that it's not possible to do on Windows Phone (while the Band does it just fine.)

IMO, I'd disagree the Surge is more comfortable.

I've got the same issue here w my MSB. I love nearly everything about it except for the fit. Being on iOS, the MSB has been flawless w sync activities and pushing text messages. I have little to no interest in the Apple Watch mainly because I'm into exercise and this is a better solution for that single minded purpose.

I have since tried on a FB Surge and it is night and day on comfort. My only concern is the how metrics are laid out. I really like MSB metrics and layout.

Last Week I visited Best Buy and looked at their inventory system. Anyone can do so. Just stop and ask what other stores have the device. What I discovered in the Atlanta, GA metro district, they had 72 mediums in stock and 47 large. Basically they sold about one device a month in all stores but about 1.5 units a week at the Georgia Mall. I would not call this a big success. We still have no idea how many Bands Microsoft has sold. 10,000 units? 100,000 units? I am thinking less than 100,000 units.

Hope they can fix Band 1.0 for the connection between different systems and also the connection with Microsoft Band Sync

I wonder how stocks in other areas keep selling out if they are just selling that badly... And it's also strange that they are selling one device a month in all stores but about 1.5 devices a week in one specific store.

First post and this is the information you come up with?

I am looking at the Surge. My concern was if notifications were available via WP. Looks like they resolved that.

Garmin also announced the 225 which FINALLY has a EKG caliber HRM built-into the wrist. It doesn't do 24x7 HR tracking though and no notifications.

The surge is the only fitbit that does text notifications right now
I really see this class of device becoming more accepted. I'm seeing it in my office and more people are asking my staff how to pair their wearable with their laptops and phones.

Well, considering that the manager at my gym recently got recruited to go work on MS Band, I'd say they must be working on 2.0.
