Have been Using 720 without amber and with amber... the battery has been awesome with:
1. 3G Mostly on,
2. No background tasks.
3., Frequent Internet browsing
4. Moderate messaging 30-50/day
5. Calls 1-2 hours/day
6. Skype calls- 30 minutes or more/day.

This used to give me One and a half day backup with 30% remaining still.

But after GDR3,
1. Not 3g always
2. No calls.
3. No msgs.
But still only around 8-12 hours standby only. left with 25% battery with nothing done after the previous charge.
Microsoft & Nokia this one is for you to listen and correct it.

Also, did anyone have the problem of Volume down button not working frequently after GDR3 Update on 720?
Pls share if experienced similar problem.

Is Amber a buggy update? My battery life is amazing pre-Amber. Now it drained from 100% to 95% after a reboot. I also noticed that it says i only have remaining 8hours...and then rebooted my phone again then it says i got a remaining 20 hrs...before my phone can last more than a day. This really need a fix. I tried to drain below 10% before recharging to 100% but it didnt work for me. Anybody knows an alternative fix? Only whatsapp is running in the background. Thank you very much.

try this
disable some useless background task
- turn on battery saver (set to always)
- turn off phone
- turn on phone
- you can turn off battery saver now

some said restart you phone when battery saver on but mine success with just turn off phone

I don't guarantee it will works for you but it's works for me

Guys, i have a Nokia Lumia 822 and I started seeing this problem suddenly in the past 10 days or so. Previously I had to recharge my phone maybe once every day, but since the last couple of weeks, I have had to recharge my phone almost 3 times a day. Initially I thought it was a problem with the battery, but then I realized that the email app for google just stayed in the Syncing.... status. At first I thought it was my slow connection, but even when I got on to a wifi network, it still stayed that way. It took quite a while before the sync message went away. I then went and changed the settings to download email only from the last 2 weeks. Initially I had set it up to download everything. Once I changed the setting, I have started seeing the battery life improve and get back to the original levels.

also saw this for the native mail app when it was configured for Yahoo mail, but it wasnt as severe. I also read somewhere that Google changed something with their imap settings.

Try it out and see if it changes anything for you all.

as a side note, I have tons of background apps running. I disabled them when I started getting low battery levels...but I have enabled almost all of them. Battery seems good even with the background apps rnning. the 4G network is always on too, though its configured to use Wifi where available (home and office)

I use Skype and emails and text and whatsapp very heavily. the Google update was the one killing my phone.

Your answer lies in your question. 4G on Always on drains a lot of power. Same is true for Whatsapp and Skype. As for the syncing issues, try re-syncing by navigating to settings->email+account. re-enter username and password. Hope it helps.
