Battery Life

I've heard mixed reviews of this. MS says like 11+ hours with it attached to keyboard but only 3 hours with just the clipboard.

How? I am getting 8 when I only play video. As soon as I try to do anything else, I am down to about 6 hours.

I'm only getting 5-6 hours doing simple things like email, web surfing, occasional YouTube videos. Very disappointing to say the least.

yes my battery life is shocking aswell!! I'm not sure if it is my system in particular or the whole range is bad.... I need answers!

It was asleep for 9.5 hours today while at work. Went from 100% to 87%. That doesn't seem right.

Got home and after an hour of web browsing it went to 75%.

I'm fairly certain I can meet or exceed the 12 hour battery life with my base model i5/128GB w/out dGPU if all I do is word processing at suggested brightness. I've seen the battery estimates go as high as 16 hours, but I never just word process and I have been recharging around 40-50% charge.

I've been getting around 6-8 hours doing web browsing, email, word, and excel. Core i5, 256gb, no dGPU. I'm not happy with that, but hoping it improves. I have the screen brightness set to 75%, that may contribute to those numbers.

I just ran a test today. Doing standard work stuff - email, Citrix session, RDP sessions, and a fair number of Lync conference calls and I managed about 7 hours before the battery saver kicked in (at 15%) and I think I could have gotten another hour out of it. I don't think that's bad considering half the time was on conference calls through the SB.

It was "sleeping" over 10 hours today and went from 100% to 76%. Is this what other people are experiencing with sleep?
I was hoping maybe the new update and drivers would do something. This is worse though.
I turn off stay connected to wifi on battery when asleep too.

Is there any issue with Windows 10 having bad memory usage? I realized the previous sleep test had come off a fresh reboot. The recent one that was worse hadn't been rebooted, just charged up to 100%. I looked at it again after not rebooting for two days and 48% of memory was use with no programs running but task manager. Also the Book was warm just sitting asleep. After a reboot the memory usage was back down to 20% with nothing running.

Not going to get better anytime soon...

?The ?standby? battery life is an issue we are working on and have been working on,? a Microsoft Surface Engineering Team program manager identified only as?Joe? explains in the company?s support forums. ?We can put the processor into a deeper sleep state than it is currently set to. We couldn?t do it at RTM for a variety of reasons, power management is a very hard computer science problem to solve especially with new silicon. Currently it is not in the deepest ?sleep? that it can be so there are wake events that would not otherwise wake it. We will have an update for this issue sometime soon in the new year.?

I get 6-8. This is with battery saver, suggested brightness, and no keyboard light. Since the issue is so widespread I'm assuming it's a software issue, but many review units seem to have met the advertised battery range so I'm not sure.
