I've had a yellow 920 since January 2013 and I still love it. I am not sure about the 930, so may hold on to my 920 a while longer. For the record I am on DP 8.1.

Problem is, battery life is quite bad. It used to last a day on quite heavy use, but nowadays I am lucky to make it to early afternoon.

As a result, I am considering replacing the battery, and wanted to know whether a new battery would last me noticeably longer, or whether under 8.1 the difference would be minor as to make the cost and effort not worthwhile.

It all depends on your phone settings. If you have gps/location services, bluetooth, roaming and NFC on all the time, your battery will wear out fast.

I am in the exact situation : yelllow 920 that I bought new 1 year and 5 months ago which I intend to keep untill the 1030 comes out.

I bought a replacement battery and now I''m waiting for a set of torx screwdrivers to arrive. I will update to Cyan and then replace the battery.

In my opinion replacing the battery should make a significant difference. Just think about how many charge cycles your old battery has been through.

I recently did this with my 920 I've had since launch. Before with light/medium use I'd get 10-12 hrs out of the phone. Now I can get 18-20 with the same sort of usage. Removing the battery is very easy. Just make sure you have the correct Torx driver (T5 IIRC) or you might end up stripping the threads.

Tried removing the battery from my 1020. I cannot get the locking rail to release the screen. It may be broken. Which is odd, because I have followed all of the directions, and this was my first attempt.

I've noticed from experience (not with WP's though) that the instructions may not cover really small things like how much force needs to be applied etc. I'd examine the entire thing, look around, try a video tutorial before proceeding.

I remember replacing the keyboard keys and display of an old Treo, but I didn't know I was supposed to force the display's "Z"IF connector until it snapped in, so I thought I broke the phone.

not true other than roaming i always have NFC,Bluetooth ,location/gps always on ,on my 720 and it still lasts easily over a day of rough use, turning them off hasnt really increased it
