Absolutely shocking behaviour by the BBC tech team who are all so obviously i-device lovers!!!

Also, have a look at the comments too - sort by highest rated and you will see quite a few angry WP users. I suggest we all join in the debate too.

What a shame that the BBC forced Laurence Gripper to shut down his amazing BBC News app too - only to replace it with... NOTHING!!! I reckon there are some close associations with Apple which are allowing them to attempt to kill the WP platform - at least that's my view...

I know that RSS readers cannot be as good as official apps, but at least for articles reading I think the Feed Viewer could be a good alternative. I have tested several BBC sources and it is still better than browsing a web site in my opinion.

It was good to see a fair few criticism of the BBC in the comments about them not supporting Windows Phone. I'm suprised Rory used an Android phone, he's always touts Apple, but I think he's become aware of his bias lately and trying not to show it.

Actually Lawrence has had an app out for a while called Paperboy which is pretty much his old BBC app, use it and give Auntie the finger!

Yep - my wife and I use that, but we need to understand why the BBC refuses to accept WP as a platform!!!

Agree we need to go onto the BBC website and the technology section and comment on the article, i made a comment and went one better by complaining straight to the BBC as a British tax payer.

Well I added a comment too - the problem is that the BBC (which I otherwise love) has been run by a bunch of Apple-loving pseuds for decades now. Despite every one and their dog having iPhones etc.. they still think they are cutting edge and trendy. They ignored Android for as long as they possibly could. Their so-called technology correspondent has been in office for God knows how long and is so out of touch I doubt he can programme his Betamax let alone much else. I suspect he has never heard of Windows Phone.

Yep the beeb just don't seem interested in WP platform as can be seen by their eventual release of the BBC sports app that is just a web wrapper - do they even read the comments for their own app to see how it's performing. No doubt if they do release a news app it will be in the same vein.

And don't get me started on the met office or sky news/sports apps!

But there are better ones from other devs out there.

Poor BBC support may be a problem for Windows Phone going forward in the UK. The lack of a news and weather apps, coupled with poor quality Sport & iPlayer apps could well put off potential purchasers. The barely functioning iPlayer Radio app shows the gulf between BBC support on Windows Phone compared to android. For someone who uses lots of BBC services this could be a deal breaker. Admittedly the mobile site is good, but as most of the media content does not work this is not really the answer. The presence in the store of numerous poor quality third party BBC news apps does not help either, funny how the BBC forced the only decent third party app to close yet ignored all the others with bugs & dodgy adverts.

The BBC always claimed it was platform neutral and would not use proprietary technology to provide services to licence fee payers.

They never supported Linux.
iPlayer relies on proprietary Adobe technologies.

And now we see that Windows Phone is not supported.

I do not pay the license fee. I refuse to pay for services I cannot receive.
