Before updating Win 10, is it required to make backup of data?

before updating win 10 is it required to make backup of data

want to know before updating to windows 10 is it required to take BACKUP (in external hard disk) of all my dada (images movies etc)??

you should make a backup on regular base. Before changing anything major on your system you ALWAYS make a backup -> upgrading is something major.
