Hey all - quick question I'm hoping some devs have some feedback on here! What apps/programs do you use for writing and editing your code? Is there anything you'd highly recommend for a NEW coder, and perhaps something a little different (more features) for a seasoned dev?

I personally use and recommend Visual Studio (Community Edition 2015 or 2017).

For Android applications I stick with Android Studio.

If we go inside the time vault to where it all began, you can find Eclipse IDE (the birth of my programming) I used this in my old Computer Science class learning Java

There's also one called "Outlaw IDE" but I never got a chance to try it out for myself and I do believe it's more-so for game development.

I remember Eclipse IDE! Oh man, that takes me back!

FWIW (I don't do a whole lot of coding), on Mac, I use some simple tools. Sublime Text (simple text editor) and Coda for diving deep into code (it's really great).

The suggestions above for PC are going to be really helpful.

Visual Studio Code is very impressive and comes cross platform on Win/Linux/Mac. I use it at work for Java because eclipse is painful. It supports pretty much any language via extensions and very lightweight. My go to solution is still full Visual Studio 2017 though for anything .NET related.
