But seriously, as others have mentioned, the Chromecast or Amazon Fire Stick are both suitable options? Seems to me that the Chromecast and Fire Stick both have access to their own ecosystems. Why would you want to connect to your television through either device?

You can wirelessly Miracast to the TV if your TV supports it. If not, there are WiFi Xbox dongles from Microsoft that do the same thing.

Works with Roku, though I have noticed I seem to have to do a fresh reboot of the Roku before it works. Once done, it seems fine.
