Open question to all of the Windows Devs out there... what is the biggest challenge/issue you face being a Windows Developer? Is there something we can help out with here at Windows Central?

Sound off!

Lack of API features comparing to desktop windows or android apps. As example: stay on top feature for uwp apps, get info for current playing song (global).

Maybe promotion is bigger challenge but it's same for other platforms too.

I can imagine profitability being another big issue for Windows developers. A lot of developers who drop apps often complain that the user base is too small to make maintenance worth it.

True. User base definitely a huge issue. Harder for devs to be profitable with their apps if there's no one to buy them :/

profitability is a big issue for Windows developers. small users base and no clear documentation on how to implement ads from other providers

User base has potential to explode, IF people on desktop/tablet start relying on the store for apps.

My biggest issue would probably be promotion.

As a WP dev, as mentioned above, the biggest problem is the promotion and actually making money from the apps.
I have my 2 WP app published, one has 31 downloads after a year, the other one 7 after a month now which gave me a total of $0,005 revenue :)
But perhaps the problem is with not enough promotion effort from my side, after all for me it's just a hobby, not a full-time job. Who knows...

But what was the most annoying for me is the publish process. For some reason, you can make the app work perfectly in your debug environment, but then when it comes to the certification process, suddenly a fully working debug app behaves completely different in the release mode. After 2 publishes I know how to handle it now, but for the first time it was a major pain in the backside and it took me like 2 weeks to get it solved.

Best regards,
Keran
