Run a speed test in a city with AWS. I'm too deep in the suburbs of Boston to get an AWS signal, but I'll try it tmw and report back. My guess is no, but then I was assuming they'd hold Black until after the Icon launch.

I am in the Baltimore area, but don't remember if AWS was turned on in the area. Just ran the test and got 38Mbps down and 5Mbps up. Nothing out of the ordinary before the Black update for this time of night.

Nokia Lumia 928 - Specifications - Nokia - USA
The specs page on nokia's website has been updated since Black was released. It's now listed as supporting LTE bands 4 and 13. After looking up what bands are what, 13 is the original 700Mhz band and 4 is in fact the new 1700Mhz AWS. So I guess that answers that.

If so, ugh. Boston coverage instill dog slow. Kicking myself for not jumping to ATT last summer for the 1020

No it doesn't. I followed that link and it lists the 928 with the following specs:
LTE network bands: 13
Where as the Icon is listed as:
LTE network bands: 4,13

LTE in Southern Louisiana

Nokia received permission from the FCC: ID QMNRM-860 (Approved Feb 22, 2013) for an in the field software upgrade that would enable LTE band 4 (UL 1710-1755 Mhz, DL 2110-2155 MHz) on the Lumia 928. I contacted Nokia Care and received the following reply.

"I hope for your kind understanding as for now, there is no such information available in our end regarding the radio software upgrade enabling AWS on the Lumia 928." Josh (10:07:56)

I have posted on the Nokia Discussions forum concerning this and will post any responses I get here.

my carrier only uses band 4 aka 1700/2100mhz or "AWS" for LTE, its been over a year waiting for the damn update so im technically ****ed
