Can you put digital copies that come with blu-ray movies on this phone like you can with apple devices. I want to get this device for my son and put some kids movies on it

Yes...the digital copies are called "Ultra Violet"...get it? Bluray, Ultra Violet?

You just create an Ultra Violet account and that is were all of your history is stored. The best UV player (only?) is currently "Flixster". Another popular example of a company that is tightly connected to your UV movies is "Vudu".

what about ones that i have downloaded on my computer that with itunes copies. I have them saved on a portable hard drive. Is there any way to put those on this phone and play them

i have some ultra violet ones that i could use the flixter app for, but some were itunes copies. I have them on the portable hard drive, but im wondering if those will play on this phone

Do they have some sort of crazy iTunes DRM on them? Do you happen to know what format they are in? I am not very familiar with those iTunes copies (I know most discs that come with an iTunes code ALSO come with an UV code; so I just skip that part or just tie it to my wife's Apple account)

WP8 will not play anything with DRM.

If they are just regular video files...you can just drag/drop them onto the phone using any PC. Same rules should apply to the movies and music...?

To sync videos (movies and TV)

1. In the Windows Phone app for desktop, click Videos.
2. Make sure the Sync videos check box is selected.
3. Do one of the following:
   • To sync some of your videos, select the ones you want to sync.
   • To sync all your videos, select the Sync all videos check box.
4. Click Sync.
