Bluetooth and the 830

Today i decided to pair my 830 to my car stereo, it's a Pioneer DEH-80PRS. All previous phones i have used on it has worked flawlessly, including controlling the connected phone (next, previous, play, pause etc). With the 830, not so much, i can get the phone to connect both through music profile and speech profile and playing music works like a charm, until you want to change track using the head unit/steering wheel. For some reason the 830 does not respond to any commands except play and stop.

Now boh devices have support for AVRCP and A2DP but it seems that the AVRCP protocoll is being ditched by either device and thus i cannot control the 830 through the head unit, i have tried different methods of pairing from both devices but no matter what i do i cannot get the full connectivity.

Now this could be a flaw in the head unit but seeing as it works perfectly on all other devices it does feel like the 830 is at fault here, does anyone have any tips or tricks for BT and WP? Has anyone had a similair issue?

I should add that i tried a cheap mono headset with the 830 and that one could control the 830 with no problem.

Try a hard reset of your phone (cycle power on/off).
I had issues connecting to a iHome iBT4 speaker until I did that. Now it has no problem doing pause/next/previous.

Thank's, i tried a shutdown restart (removed battery in between) and it did nothing. But i continued reading about the DEH-80PRS and it had an available firmware update to sort out BT connectivity with last gen iPhones, and with my typical luck the update got stuck mid way so now im being told to send it in for service... Apparently I'm the first person to get it stuck in update aswell, they think the firmware file got scrambled in BT transfer, ie the device didn't have any checksum for it, just my typical luck... Anyways, i'll report back here once i get the unit back & see if it works then.

Well that blows - hope you get your gear soon, and functional. : |

I've had issues with audio skipping over bluetooth although from what I read it's an issue with WP and not the device itself. In my case disabling wifi worked. However, I doubt the same would work for you :(

Aye i suspect the WiFi while BT trick wouldn't do much in this cse, and i can confirm mine does behave the same, if i have Wifi running while streamng over BT it will start to "skip". I suspect this could be a firmware glitch (drivers)

Today i got my headunit back from service, they had swapped the BT board and once I installed the headunit I was able to update the firmware on it, it now controls the phone perfectly using AVRCP, so if you have a late model pioneer headunit/receiver with onboard Bluetooth you want to install the firmware with revision nr: HW05-SW01.27.20 This firmware was intended to sort out connectivity with iPhone 5 & 6 but it seems that Windows Phone falls under that category aswell.

In short, the problems i had where not caused by the phone.
