After troubleshooting with both Microsoft and Verizon support technicians, I've discovered that having Bluetooth turned on greatly impacts the signal strength of my wifi connection.

I have a 50/20 MBPS Verizon FiOS connection that provides 55/22 wired. With Bluetooth off on my Surface Pro 2 I wirelessly receive 40/19, but with Bluetooth ON, I get 4/19.

While I can appreciate that there typically is some output loss, going from 40 MBPS to 4 MPBS seems a little excessive, doesn't it?

Hardly a supprise.

You'd be supprised how many devices use the same wireless frequencies for communication, and its very easy for them to interfere with each other.

Try changing the wifi channel on your router.

That was the solution when i found my wireless gaming headphones killed the wifi connection on my xbox.
