Somewhere in an Intro thread, I said Hello :o) - indicated I am a recent WP buyer / convert / user??? ... I a looooooooooong time Android user (a long time very customized Android user) so this is a big change for me. I got a Lumia 928 and so far I think I'm pretty happy with it ~ love the camera! LOL ... I live in the Dallas area - I'm a chick - and I have kind of a dark and bizarre sense of humor ... So, that's who I am and I have a few questions about my phone that I can't seem to find many answers for ~ hopefully, y'all will be able to help me out. (I just wanted to give a little intro about myself there to let you guys know that I was here because I do actually have a Windows Phone :o) )

Now, I even read the manual and searched the forums, but didn't find what I was looking for :o) ...

So, let me see if I have this right ~ there are NO "advanced" options for Bluetooth connectivity, is that right??? There is only "Off" or "On" ? ~ There is no option to "Rename Device" ~ turn on / leave on your Bluetooth device and make it "not discoverable" (is that a word?) ~ scan for devices, etc ??? (I'm not judging, here - I'm looking for clarity) ...

If I leave my BT setting "On" all the time ~ it drains my headset(s) ... anyone else have this problem??? Is this typical??? Or do I need to get a different BT headset?

On to other things ... I turned my phone off the other night (okay, last night) ~ plugged it in to charge it and *whammo* - as soon as I plugged it in - it turned on ... I thought (okay, I can't print what I thought, but I thought it) ... so I turned it back off - unplugged it ~ plugged it back in and it turned itself back on ... Can it really not charge without turning itself back on??? Or is this a defective phone ??? o.0 Because that's kind of weird ...

Haptic Feedback - I can't find it ???

I'm getting pretty good battery life out of it, I think? 2 days generally - is that about right?

Okay - I think that about covers it for now ~ any and all help would be greatly appreciated :o)

Windows Phones will automatically turn on when being charged. That is not a defect. It's been that way since the existence of original WP7.

Welcome! Quick answer to a few of your questions. Bluetooth - There are very limited options. You can leave the radio on and not have to worry too much about your battery life. You are only in discovery mode when you are on the Bluetooth page.

The phone has to be on to charge.

1.5 days is about average, I think.

I'm glad you're enjoying your new phone!

-Cheers
Jonathan

When you connect your phone to the desktop sync app you will get to name your phone. This will be the BT name and what you will see in file explorer.
With BT on and the BT setting in view you are in the discovery mode and scanning for other BT devices.
No Haptic Feedback.
Most BT headsets turn off after several minutes of no activity. I have no problems with battery when I leave BT on all the time.

Okay ~ so that answers that about the discovery issue - thank you! :o) (and also thank you for the rest :o) ) ...

Just a weird question for you guys ~ what do you do if you want to turn your phone off but need to charge it???

I wonder if I can do this in WE mode - I'll have to give it a go ... I had somewhat of a hard time getting it to "scan for devices" - that's why I was looking for a "scan on demand" button LOL ... Thanks very much for the info! :o)

If you don't want calls or the audible notifications just put it in the airplane mode and charge it.

There's an app "Status Tiles" or something like that, that will put a direct link to airplane mode on your start screen for easier access.

Thanks, jonathan ~ I will have to think about that ;o) (I'm more of a "clean screen" person ;o) :o) - but thanks for letting me know about it LOL

.
I think she was wanting to rename the headset not the phone. Microsoft apparently didn't think people need to rename their bt devices. I have multiple devices with the same name. I just try and connect both since I only have one on and in range of the phone at a time.

There is no Haptics
Phone will not charge in off mode, use airplane mode

depending on how much I use my phone I can get 1 to 3 or 4 days on a single charge
Use Black Background, not White. This will help a lot.

It would be nice if BT did more, but, it's not entirely needed to do many things.
I agree you should be able to rename devices whatever you want.

Check out NFC and tap+send
It does work and can be useful.

If you like clean tiles, look for Nokia App Folder, and you can add a lot of things to a single tile and have quicker access to them in general.
I have all Settings in a single tile, BT, WIFI, Airplane etc. Great App,,,, App Folder.... You won't need additional Apps for the different Settings tiles.

I don't leave BT on, only when I need it, and for me, that isn't very often, but if you use it a lot, I don't think it drains that much.
As for the other devices, that may be an issue with those devices not turning off when not being used.
Or your phone is keeping them awake for some reason.

Note: There is no way to remove the battery from the Nokia 928 without voiding the warranty.

As for transferring files and stuff, Skydrive works fantastically for this.
Over USB though...
If you are on Windows 8 (Which I highly recommend), you can use the Windows Phone App, or get Windows Phone Desktop App
Both work equally well. the WP App I like for being able to view everything on my phone using icons.
WP Desktop App is good for synching. It has some disadvantages though, it is only in Preview 3, so we will have to see how that goes.

Don't be afraid to check out and use OneNote, that is one handy app. Comes standard on the phone.
And if you are using Office 2010 or 2013 (which I also recommend 2013) synching through Skydrive is fantastic.
Having Notes that synch across every windows device you have, can save you a lot of time.

I like this better than EverNote.

I know you didn't ask about some of this info,, but thought I would share anyway.

Getting into Music, Synching a bunch of music will add music to the proper folders etc based on the ID3Tags into your phones Music Folder
Creating Play Lists is where WP falls extremely short. The best way is to add all your music to your phone,
then add mp3's to the Now Playing List, then save that as a Play List.
You can use Windows Media Player, and it does work, then use WP Desktop App (Not the WP App) to synch.
But this can be a pain till you figure out the sequence to do it in. I don't recommend that avenue for everyone.
So,, it's unfortunate, but Play List building has not been a great focus for the Windows Phone App or Windows Phone Desktop App.
And if your id3 tags are jacked or missing info, (like any other device) it will be a mess in the music player.
But, the music player through Head Phones or Line out, and oven through BT devices sounds fantastic.
