As far as branding preference goes, I look forward to getting Microsoft emblazoned on my phone. However, I'm afraid it will just get covered up with a case anyway, because I don't run my phone naked.
You'll find that usually the same people that think of Microsoft as the monopoly abusing company of 20 years ago also tend to think of Google as a company that is looking out for the best interest of the consumer.
I see that a lot on tech sites and android fan sites (which make up a small part of the actual population), but I don't see people out in the real world thinking of Microsoft that way any longer. At least not where I live. Most are either unaware of what Microsoft is doing or are looking forward to Windows 10.
As far as the people out there that "hate Windows", they generally just hate a particular version of Windows, and it's mostly Vista or 8. For the most part, those same people continue to use it because they see it better than the alternative, which is pay for an upgrade, buy a new computer, pay the price of a Mac, or install Linux. Not saying it is a better alternative, but many think so.
Most people on the street actually think they have to be running Windows to have Office on their PC. Strange but true. Then again, most people can't tell you who the mayor of their town is, or find their **** with both hands, so what are you going to do about that?
