Hey guys I was wondering if there was a way to integrate Office, Phone, and Sky Drive so I can save a document I'm doing on the desktop directly to Sky Drive and have it sync down to the phone (which I know it already does)? If it's able to, I would love a Dropbox like sync where the file is always on the desktop and when you edit it it syncs with the server and vice versa. I longgggg for something like this so if anyone has any tips let me know and yes i'm willing to do a bit of networking to make it happen too (I had to do that for Box.net to sync to desktop before).

Is there a reason you need it sync'd up rather than just accessing it from skydrive from either phone or PC? I would just edit it right on skydrive from either device using Web Office from the PC and the Office App from Windows Phone.

Never noticed it before, but under My Network Places I have a folder labeled: Office on flxjkx.docs.live.net which shows all the Office docs on my SkyDrive. Don't remember doing anything special to get it there. Clicking a file opens it with the desktop apps. Running XP w/Office 2010.

Have you opened something from Sky Drive to the desktop app before? It's not showing up for me but I think it creates an automatic link when you do (speculation)

Live Mesh is great but from what I recall, you can't access sync'd folder from WP7.

Here's my best solution: You can go to skydrive and open the document - then there's a "open in Word" button on the top left so you can use your Word Desktop Application to edit it and it will save to your Skydrive.

Then you can access/edit it from your phone since it's not "sync'd" with Live Mesh and in a sync folder.

To add to what Coffee said, using IE9 you can pin Skydrive to your taskbar for quick access, and that also gives you a jumplist with options to go directly to your docs, or create a new one. Seems a bit quirky to pin it though, going to Skydrive directly from the Hotmail landing page doesnt pin it correctly, but if I open the link to synced folders and then select Skydrive again from the menus at the top of the page it will pin correctly. The key to knowing if you are pinning it correctly is if you see the blue cloud icon in the address bar, for some reason opening Skydrive directly from the hotmail landing page creates a pinned link to Hotmail.

This is what you should see: http://askludwig.wordpress.com/2011/09/02/how-do-i-pin-skydrive-to-the-taskbar-in-windows-7/

I saw that awhile back and tried it, it works okay but from the desktop it's easier to just open Skydrive and get full functionality than that.
