So build 10049 is showing up in windows update (along with a dictionary update that refuses to go away or install) but it keeps telling me I need more space to install it, and I've already cleared out 20Gbs. It also doesn't tell me how much space it needs it just says 0.00 - 0.00 MB.

Any ideas??

getting the exact same thing since yesterday.... I am not sure if it needs more space or it is just hung up on the fact that it did not find space initially and is not re-initializing a search for space available. The fact that it doesn't let us know how much is needed adds to the confusion for me. I am getting this on a virtual installation in virtualbox. Is yours the same?

Also, I wonder if it is explicitly a maxed out temporary files limit or not. I get about 2.37GB in my temporary files (and clicking the button below to clear temporary files does not do anything or bring any other application up).

I don't see what that 2.37GB is from. In disk clean-up, my temp files are no where near to even 100MB now.... what gives?

ok... I went into disk clean-up > clean-up system files > More option > Clean up (system restore and shadow copies)... and voila... it goes back to downloading updates and installing the new update (currently in process)... see if this helps...

I will try that! Mine's on a SP2, but hopefully it'll still work.

Didn't work :/

so must be some other thing as well... I did clear system files too earlier (disk clean up > clean-up system files)..... and mine had only about a few (4-5?) gigs free (nowhere near what you have free)... so it has to be a limit on the temporary files and things like that that's jamming the update, not the free space in general.... ... oh!! and a helpful serving of reboots too....

I always delete OLD WINDOWS from inside disk cleanup. I'm never going back to that old beta copy anyways so it frees up about 15GB.

So I finally got it to download the update, but now it's getting stuck at 70%, 88% through Applying PC Settings. I started it last night, woke up at about 3am, saw it at 70%, woke up at 8am, still at 70%. Rebooted the PC, downloaded the update again, and now I'm back to 70% again and stuck there.

So, third times the charm! Finally it rebooted after sticking at 70% for a while and when it restarted it was at 75% and went all the way to 100% and completed
