Can I directly update my phone to Windows Preview Build?

Windows preview build install

I am using Nokia Lumia 730; with a firmware update of 10.0.12534.59 notified in phone update section.

Can I directly update my phone to preview build 10166. If so, please let me know.

Yes, but you have to join fast ring

I am on fast ring...its showing 10.0.12534.59.

Can't I directly download the latest preview build bypassing this one.

No, if an older build is already scheduled you will need to hard reset to clear it.

No, even hard reset doesn't help in such scenario, I tried that on my 925 and after hard rest I was again offered to install those weird 10.0.12534.59 build, but you shouldn't worry about anyway, after getting 10.0.12534.59 you'll be immediately prompted to update it to latest build 166....

Well I've not seen this in my experience.

Believe me I tried everything to get rid of this 10.0.12534.59 build and get 166 directly but finally after few unsuccessful attempts and hard resets I gave up

You need to use the Windows phone recovery tool to go back to 8.1 then use the Windows insider app on the fast ring to go directly to build 166

You must be kidding When I said I tried everything it means that I tried to rollback to, twice
