Clarification on sound profiles

Hi everyone, I've just ordered a Lumia 640. My first windows phone coming from an Android LG G2. I've been reading extensively on windows phone and I have figured out most of the important stuff, just one thing I can't figure out.
I understand quiet mode that I will use at night. But how can I make the phone go automatically to vibrate mode at 8AM and turn ringer back on at 5PM? My workplace is very quiet and having a blaring ring would be.... unacceptable. Also if I forget to turn it back to ringer at 5PM, I will miss all evening calls.
If this is not available in windows 8.1 right now, can anyone tell me if this is coming in 10? It's a must.

Re: Clarification on sound profiles

This specific feature seems to be not available in Windows Phone 8.1 and it's uncertain if this will come in Windows 10. However, at this point, you may have three options:

1. Set automatic rules for quiet hours: Quiet Hours also works for appointments in your Calendar that have been marked as "busy". You may create a daily appointment* starting from 8AM to 5PM and let your Quiet Hours settings track the calendar account in which you created the appointment. This will keep your phone silent during work hours, but unfortunately it won't make your phone vibrate for notifications.

2. Manual reminder option: Set a daily reminder in your calendar to switch your phone to vibrate mode (press the volume down button until ringer and notifications hits "0") at 7:55AM and then another reminder to bring the volume back up at 5:00PM.

3. Investigate if leaving the phone screen down on a flat surface would prevent it from ringing - you might need to install Gestures Beta for this to work, including the "flip to silent" feature.

I've been looking for this exact feature ever since I started using Windows Phones. Hopefully it will be available in Windows 10. Welcome to Windows and Windows Central, by the way.

*- Recommended to create this through a web browser in your PC since you would be able to specify the days when that appointment would take place, i.e. weekdays only.

Re: Clarification on sound profiles

Thanks for the welcome and reply, great info. Options 1 and 2 sound worth investigating, though I want to make sure I don't miss any calls or notifications. A reminder is a great idea if I can't get anything else to work.
I could handle that until windows 10 comes, would be great if that brings some profile management functionality!
