Can I get some help with some problems I am having with the strap of my Microsoft Band?

My battery cover on one side got bad enough to make me want to peel off the un-glued rubber coating and do what I had planned when they first started showing signs of separating.

I got a really good deal on a Armorsuit carbon backing for a 7 inch tablet (and a clear s-saver I can use later for what ever) off the bay for less than $11. Big enough to make carbon stickered covers for many things!

So I scraped off as much of the rubber from around the edges of the battery covers as possible....only a small amount was left around the edges that just did not want to come off well. I unscrewed the 2 t-screws on each side....but could not remove the batter covers to do the job perfectly. I saw on one band teardown they had to drill out the threaded area to remove or get below the batters. So I just got as much off as possible without messing up the area of rubber by the battery covers.

Measured and made a few paper templates and hacked out a couple covers for the battery covers to hide the silver metal. Then I hacked out a screen cover to go over the armorsuit matte finish screen saver. I ordered the wrong one as I wanted clear ....but turns out i like the matte finish for feel and better touch movements with my sticky hands on the sticky softer clear armorsuit saver. So it feels much better to swipe with the matte finish....just have not tested in sunshine yet to see if there is a large amount of clarity/readability lost with this one.

Anyway....here is my hacked band now.

I have had the band for about 2 months now and just in the past week or two have noticed the rubber bubbling only on one side.
That's about how long it took mine to show some bubbling. It went pretty quickly after the initial bubbling, but only on one side. The MS store was cool about replacing it on the spot. The band they gave me as a replacement is now bubbling on one side, but I'm just going to let it go - not a big deal, just looks a little ragged. I'll be curious to see what they do for Band 2 for this issue.

I've had my band for almost 9 months now and the rubber just started coming off of the battery guards. The power connector has been corroding for a month or two, so I decided to take it in to the store today. 20 minutes later I walked out with a brand new band. The extra $20 for Complete was well worth it.

You guys must be tougher on your band than I am. I wear it 24/6.5 (not in the shower  ) and have it on during my runs in the morning where I work up a good sweat. After my run, I wipe it down and it looks just as new as the day I got it, 7 months ago.

I would of done the same thing, but the closest MSFT store is about 2.hrs drive away. No biggie though as it does not bother me now anyway. It would of been cool thought if the metal under the rubber was black and not silver!

I think it comes down to body and external heat plus pressure of the band moving or rubbing on your skin. I cleaned my band off with a wet towel after every days shower and I do not sweat that hard and I am not at all tough on it in any way. The rubber on the battery cover is attached with a thin layer of adhesive. Thought that layer seems stronger around the edges about 1-2mm outward as you will see when you go to peel off the rest of the rubber.
