Can I replace my Lumia 720 camera lens cover?

Lumia 720 camera lens cover

The rear camera lens cover on the back panel of my Lumia 720 shows a lot of scratches/smudges, probably from keeping it on my work table. This lens cover seems to be of plastic, should'nt it be of glass? As a result, the picture/video quality has significantly degraded. What are the options that I have? I tried few home remedies such as the toothpaste polish, but to no avail. Do I need to get the back panel changed or will I need to get the entire body changed? What will be the cost ( I am in India)? I have the phone under extended warranty, but not sure if Nokia will accept this under warranty. Will take my phone to Nokia care at weekend, but just wanted to know the options.

Amit...Changing the back cover would cost you around 3500-4000...probably not the best idea to replace it.

I am facing the camera focus issue after upgrading to 8.1...& Nokia Care moron guy suggested to change the back cover...

Too many hardware issues with my Nokia Lumia, display glass crack after falling from small height, microphone replacement twice, lens cover scratched. Hardware was Nokia's forte but not anymore it seems. I dont want to go back to Android hence Nokia only possible option.

Went to Nokia care. They asked to get the back panel changed. Cost 2800/- . Dropped the idea.
