Can I save pics to the cloud and delete from my phone? Nokia says NO...

I see here that Nokia claims that the photos won't disappear from your phone as long as you upload them to OneDrive.
This isn't true! I did just that, and it not only deleted them from my phone, but also from the computer that had OneDrive on it. This is utterly ridiculous. What it is the point of OneDrive when you can't get the photos off your device and safely in the cloud? Thanks to how Nokia and OneDrive work (or don't work) together, there doesn't seem to be any solution. I am going to have to copy all the photos to a storage device, then delete them, which will automatically delete them from OneDrive too, thanks to their system. Then I will delete OneDrive and use something that actually works.

If you got around this problem will you explain to me how to? I'm ready to delete OneDrive--100% of the memory on my phone and laptop is taken up by photos that I'm afraid to delete because last time, that deleted them from OneDrive too. Would appreciate any advice.

Yes, this appears to be an unwelcomed change with Windows 10. When I try to delete a photo from my phone, I now get a warning prompt that it will also delete from OneDrive. I want to use OneDrive as a backup for my photos so that I can delete them from my phone. Instead OneDrive is now working as a synced copy of the photos on your phone.

If anybody has a work-around for this, please advise!

thanks

I must really come from Neptune or Pluton (Even if they say it doesn't exist anymore). My need about syncing pictures is quite the opposite as you guys and I don't understand why I would be so different than you all. For me, the lost of time manipulating files (pictures) all around twice or many more times is a waste of time so, and I say it is for me and the way I use my devices, when I take a picture with my phone, I expect it to be sync with OneDrive right away. Which it does really well in just a couple of seconds. Then, when I have time to do so, I go to my OneDrive on my PC (not on the web) and move my pictures on my PC Hard drive under a folder name according to the purpose of the picture taken. I expect OneDrive to sync in the opposite direction to go and delete the picture in OneDrive on the web and then on my phone. That is the most efficient way to manage pictures, according to me, naturally. If I want to be able to access pictures, I need to recall where I've put it (in a folder) and not looking up 2000 pictures before I get to the one I want. I use a LG G3 and my problem is more about bidirectional syncing because what I need is exactly to not have to go to my phone and delete the pictures I moved to a folder. It is like working twice for the same thing. So I got FolderSync from Google Store and it worked fine until today when it stopped deleting the files on my phone and I don't know why. I did a backup of all my pictures on OneDrive before deleting them from OneDrive on my PC and they were deleted on the web too but I still have 216 pictures in my Gallery on my phone and it is what I don't want. Guess everybody have different needs and ways to see the situation. If any of you know how to set OneDrive to delete pictures on my phone after a removal of the file, I'm all ears (eyes). Thanks guys.
