Can I use backup from one windows phone to another?

I have a 920 but looking at getting a 521. Am I able to restore backup from 920 onto 521? All apps really that in trying to restore. Thanks

I have restored a number of backups between 8x and 928 and between 822 and 928. No problems except the vendor specific apps.
