Can I use Cortana with shortened names?

Cortana and shortened names

Quick question for everyone......is there a way to use Cortana with shortened names? For instance, If I try to text someone using it, I have to say the person's full name. Is there a way I can use just a person's first name, nickname, or "my wife?"

pretty sure you can do that by setting a nickname with those in the inner circle.

also, you might be able to change something in your wife's contact card in people.

As xandros9 mentioned, you can use nicknames in the Inner Circle feature of the Cortana settings. I use this for "wife", "daughter", "mom", etc.

To get Cortana to send a text to multiple recipients easily, I tricked her a bit by creating a Group in People named, "My wife and kids" and now I can say to her, "Send a text to my wife and kids that I'm on my way home."
