Can my Net10 get the 8.1 update?

Can net10 get 8.1 update

I would like to get Cortana on my windows lumina 920 phone an i have Net 10 as the provider, was told only if my provider is capable will I be able to get the update. Basically does it matter what provider you have, don't want an expensive contract.

The update would be tied to the ROM currently running on the 920. Since 920 was released only on AT&T here in the US, I can safely assume you have an unlocked AT&T 920? If yes then 8.1 has already been released for the AT&T 920 so it should be ready for download already. If you are using an unlocked variant or an unlocked phone originally locked to a carrier then the update would depend on when the carrier or Microsoft releases the update for its ROM. Again in a nut shell, the update depends on the ROM currently running on your phone.
