can windows phones get hacked?

Hello guys,
I was using WhatsApp the other day, and I switched to Instagram for a bit, then when I tried to get back to WhatsApp it asked me to enter my phone pin number, even though I didn't enable two steps verification in the app, is it possible that my phone have been hacked, and if so, is there anything I can do to stop it.

Is it more likely for your account to be compromised?
Mailware is not likely on your phone.

I don't think it's WhatsApp It's probably the phone , and I'm not even sure about it, but when a pop up screen turns out of no where to ask for your phone pin it makes suspicious, I just want to know if there is a way to make sure my phone is safe

Yup ,doesn't work I just gave up on the matter, every one keeps saying its a verification code, but I'm sure its not , I'm going to hard reset the phone to make sure nothing is hacked, even though I know wp are near impossible to hack , but to make sure everything stays safe
