Cannot clear storage space on phone

I've searched and searched and searched for an answer so apologies if I have missed something but I can't find anything that actually helps me.
I can't download or update any apps because I have no storage space on my phone. I've plugged my phone into my laptop and have no files accessible to clear, the document, music, pictures, ringtones and videos are all empty. What is taking up all the space and HOW do I clear it? My phone is USELESS at the moment...
The storage shrink app has seriously bad reviews at the mo, but surely there should be a better way to sort my useless phone out.

The issue your dealing with is what's known as 'Other' storage. Though I haven't got a clear answer from anyone regarding what they were doing with their phones to get the problems they do my only assumption is that they're using apps that download specialized files that are not common to WP so it sees them as 'Other'.

So I will ask, what apps do you have on your phone and do you clear up the files in the apps that use special files?

The bad news is, it's highly likely you'll need to either A remove apps or B hard reset your phone.

I can't believe there isn't an easy option for dealing with this, my phone is pretty useless atm now because of this...

I was suggesting that it's possible you are using an app that has files that WP doesn't recognize, hence the 'Other files' issue.

Can you list the apps you have on your phone? Maybe I or someone else may help.

Do you have a lot of emails with attachments?

If you have nothing odd going on then it your phone will need a hard reset. It may need one regardless.

If you want to try some tricks that people suggest, do a search on the forum for 'Other storage'. There are many threads on this and it's hard to pin point what specifically could be going on with your phone.

Right everything that I have an option of uninstalling: 6snap, adobe reader, battery, bing news, 2 email accounts-1 hotmail 1 outlook, easy connect, ebay, facebook, facebook beta, google, here city lens, here drive, here maps, live tile countdown, nokia care, nokia mixradio, onenote, pdf reaer, sky news, skydrive, top task list, twitter, weather, wordpress.

I have a few emails but I have my sync settings set so I only have a few weeks emails in my inbox on my phone, I can't afford to have much less than that...

I've seen a few storage apps suggested, I either can't find them or they are rated badly and only seem to cause more issues so I'm not sure what to try. I have had a browse of other threads, it is starting to look like a lost cause tho.

Have you tried clearing the cache in IE, Battery, Adobe Reader, PDF reader?

I did that, thank you, it gave me just enough room to update facebook, but I can't download anything new.
I'm going to have to do a hard reset aren't I?

Do you have backup on and upload to skydrive? If so shut them off and do a soft reset. Other than that it would appear that some program is caching files. If you can't determine which one and can't erase them then a hard reset is all that's left.
