So i decided to upgrade my Lumia 930 to windows 10 when the 10536 build was released and now i cant connect my Lumia to my computer (acer 5738z windows 10). Have you heard of any similar problems, what can i do to solve it?

Everything worked well before when i was running windows phone 8 and connect to the same computer a couple of weeks earlier. Now the phone only starts charging and their is now sound from the pc to acknowledge that i plugged in a usb-device tried all four ports and all work with regular usb-memory.

Maybe its worth mentioning that my installation of the 10536 build on my Lumia 930 isn't 100%. For example if a restart my phone the start screen can't load in a couple of minutes and it can take up to, i dont know really but maybe 15 minutes. Luckily you can start apps through cortana/search. Among other smaller issues. I did perform a hard reset maybe a couple of hours after i first updated to the insider build and have the same problem. Should a do another hard reset or is a rollback the only option to solve this.

Would appreciate help with the startscreen problem but priority is the computer connection problem.

Have a nice day and thank you in advance.

Hi,
I have the same problem, can't connect my phone to my laptop after upgrading to windows 10.
Did you find a solution or anyone can help?
Want to restore my phone to 8.1 but impossible without connecting the phone to my pc.

Thanks for the reply,I tried all the things in this thread but still my usb connection is not working,I started to think the phone's usb port is damage cause no activity on the pc when I plug the phone.
Anyway I will wait for another insider build maybe they will fix it or for the official release.
Thanks again

You should have done a full reset after upgrade to WP10, also do not restore from backup:wink:. Never had this problem on mine.

This problem was actually caused by doing a full reset on the prior TP build, at least for me. And the only way to fix it was to use the recovery tool to go back to WP8.1 and then upgrade again.

Have you followed the instructions in the "Windows Device Recovery Tool"? It got my phone working again. (Essentially you plug your phone in, tell the app it didn't find it, then the app tells you to restart the phone with volume down/power, while it is plugged in to USB, and then the WDRT tool will find the phone during boot and hold it in the firmware recovery mode.

Yes I followed all the details but with no luck ,tried deferent pc and usb cables too.
Thanks for ur help guys.

Found something in the Microsoft forums that actually worked - hold the volume up button while plugging your phone to your PC, that should force the PC to detect the phone. This is based on a user who observed that a Store personnel did the same thing and the PC was able to "magically" detect the phone normally.

I tried this and it worked for my Lumia 1020.

You found the Holy Graal?
