Can't connect to hotspot

Hey guys,

So I generally create a hotspot using connectify through my laptop so as to use Internet on my phone, use splashtop personal, Nokia playto and other such apps.
Usually my phone 720 could and would automatically connect to my laptop's hotspot.
However recently I have noticed that this isn't possible, the wifi settings page just shows that connection failed, no such network etc. type errors.

So is there a fix? I'm asking because hard resetting isn't solving my problem.

Yup, i did, created a hotspot on the laptop using cmd. Still, it doesn't work.

hotspot via ad-hoc doesnt work with lumia phones, I have a lumia 720 so dont google much the fix has to come from microsoft
