Car stereo USB support

I have got my 950XL working in the car via bluetooth but also want to have it working via USB so it charges as well (plus bluetooth on the phone seems to stutter fequently).

My stereo (Pioneer MVH-X560BT) says it support MTP for Android and I believe the 950XL supports MTP but I cannot get it working or recognized.

Am I doing something wrong or is it not compatible?

It's very unlikely that your head unit will support a Windows phone through USB. I doubt there is a single one on the market that does. A lot of the head units won't even charge the phone if it can't communicate with the phone for some reason. I had a Pioneer unit a few years ago that wouldn't even charge my Lumia 920 over USB. Your only other option is AUX, which is a pain and doesnt have skip/pause/play function. Is the bluetooth performance really that bad?
