Seems like the answer should be obvious, but I haven't been able to figure this out. How can I customize the alert sounds for messaging on my new Sprint Samsung Intrepid (WM 6.5) phone?
I have looked in: Settings > Sounds & Notifications
If I drop an MP3 or WAV ringtone onto a microSD card, then WM6.5 will recognize the ringtone allow me to modify the "Phone: Incoming call" sound.
If I drop a WAV file onto a microSD card, then WM6.5 will not recognize the WAV sound. The only sounds that show up for the "Messaging: New e-mail message" or "Messaging: New text message" events are the stock sounds, e.g., Alarm1, Alarm2, etc etc.
I have tried putting the WAV file into the root directory of the phone, the root directory of the microSD card, and the "My Ringtones" directory of the phone. No luck.
Am I missing something obvious here?
Thanks for the help,
JJ
