Changing shutter speed on 920 camera

So, the camera on my 920 is great. Great quality, great low light. But if my subjects aren't standing perfectly still it gets that typical smeariness. I've tried using sports mode (since I figure it's meant for fast subjects), but then the photo comes out dark. Has anyone figured out ideal settings for capturing even slow-moving subjects without sacrificing image quality?

That just isn't ideal... I have an SLR and I've gotten very used to flash-free photography. I hate the way flash makes things look.

Have you compared it to other phones in similar lighting conditions, or just to your SLR? Can you post a few shots so I can see what the conditions are like?

I don't think you can change shutter speed on default camera app, except downloading 3rd party camera app instead
