checking if the windows is genuine

Windows Central Question

i just bought a MSI laptop and it already had a win 10 installed on it. but when i try to activate it , it says it cant activate windows . so is there any way to check if the product key or the windows is genuine?and if it is how can i activate it with out getting the error.

under settings navigate to update&security>activation there you will find whether your windows is activated or not or is ti in a trial period. It will give you the current status.
