There aren't many to choose from to be honest, nice size screen and generally very high quality product - Lumia 950. Same but a bit faster and with a bigger screen - Lumia 950XL. Get a Mozo cover for it though, the standard one feels really cheap.

  1. What to buy depends on a few things. What country you are in may affect availability. What is your budget? Do you want a built for W10M device or would you mind upgrading a Windows Phone 8.1 device to 10?
  2. The thread where you originally posted this question is for the latest experimental build. A test bed for what will not be a stable release until Spring of 2017, so NO you would not experience what those users are reporting unless you used the Insider Program and moved to the most risky builds...

if you're in the US and just want to try the latest w10m that is 14393 for you for the optimal experience and the best phone at about 80$ would be the unlocked ATT lumia 830 and at 130-150$ would be the lumia icon, for about 300$ is the bestess 950

dont bother with the 640(former best value wp) it costs almost the same as a 830 on ebay and the 830 is a much better package

if you're not in the US and/or can get packets from the US then your options are pretty slim and shrinking by the hour... the best you can do is find a local shop with a 640 or a local online marketplace

Great deal

Continuum - is it important? if so then do you require multitasking with multiple apps open? if yes then wait as continuum cant offer that yet, not even with the X3. If no then get a 950, super cheap and a good offer, get it SIM only and you can sell the handset as new devices roll out over the next 12 months. Personally im getting an iPhone 5 or 6 until the Surface Phone or X86 based phones come out. I cant wait and the app gap is getting annoying and in my way.

Of the Lumia/Microsoft phones you can still buy, the 640 is an 8.1 phone so you would need to upgrade to W10, the 650 is a good all rounder but doesn't have Continuum, the 950 and 950 XL are top end spec phones with Continuum, as mentioned there are now other makers like the very powerful but very expensive HP Elite.

If you aren't a massive app user (And you will be surprised how good the MS supplied apps are) then apps really don't cause an issue, I have a banking app can control my lights, check the stars, there are plenty more but you don't have the choice you get on some other platforms.

And as mentioned, there is no need to go on insiders, I used to be, but I am now back to production build, yes it means I am a couple of months behind some users on some parts of the OS/apps, but I don't have the issues they have when bugs get introduced.

I really am liking where MS are going with the OS now, and the integration of my phone with my PC is fantastic and getting better, the latest Skype preview (Fast ring insiders) allows Skype to become your fully integrated message centre, so SMS and MMS will show up and be send-able from your PC using your phones allowances.

your budget is a big factor here and will throttle down on the features you get . If you want premium high end devices with iris scanner and windows hello you can always opt for lumia 950.xl. where as if you are looking for a mid range devcie lumia 650 should be the best option :)

with the lumia line going to end in a few months, i would personally suggest to wait a while until Microsoft discusses plans to bring in new devices by early 2017. :)

I don't think that matters as the current line of 650, 950, 950xl have a lot of life in them still considering how my 920 is still usable.
